What an HTML color code is
An HTML color code is the HEX notation web pages have used since the early days of HTML: a # followed by six hexadecimal digits, two each for red, green and blue. It is simply the RGB color written in base 16, so rgb(46, 139, 87) becomes #2E8B57 — the color CSS also knows by the name SeaGreen.
HTML codes work everywhere: in CSS files, inline style attributes, SVG and HTML email, where older mail clients may not understand newer color notations. Legacy HTML attributes such as bgcolor also expect this format. Enter the RGB channels or choose a color in the dialog and copy the code; the result is always six uppercase digits, which every browser and mail client reads the same way. HSL, HSV and CMYK values are listed below it.
Everything runs locally in your browser — your images are never uploaded to a server.
