About WebP and PNG
WebP is a compact image format built for fast websites; it can be lossy or lossless and supports transparency and animation. PNG is older and heavier, but it is lossless, understood by every graphics program, office suite and operating system, and remains the standard for images you plan to edit.
Convert WebP to PNG when a design tool, presentation or upload form won't accept WebP, when you need a logo or sticker with its transparent background intact, or when you want a master copy that doesn't lose quality on every save. The transparency of the original is preserved exactly.
PNG needs no quality setting: the image is written without loss, so what you see in the preview is exactly what you get. Expect the PNG to be larger than the WebP, sometimes several times larger for photos. Animated WebP files are saved as a single still frame; to keep the motion, use the WebP to GIF converter.
