Why convert PNG to JPG
PNG is lossless: it keeps every pixel intact and supports transparency, which is ideal for graphics and screenshots but makes photos heavy — a photo saved as PNG is often several times larger than the same picture in JPG. JPG uses lossy compression tuned for photographs, is accepted by virtually every website, form, printer and messenger, and is the practical choice whenever file size matters.
Convert when a site rejects a large PNG, when you need to email or upload photos quickly, or when an image came out of an export as PNG but doesn't need transparency. JPG has no alpha channel, so transparent areas are filled with white.
The quality slider runs from 10 to 100% and starts at 85%; the estimated file size under the preview changes as you drag. Around 80–90% a photo looks the same as the original at a fraction of the size, while lower values suit thumbnails. Flat graphics with small text stay sharper in PNG.
Everything runs locally in your browser — your images are never uploaded to a server.
