Choosing a Facebook post format

Facebook shows images in several shapes. The 1200×630 landscape format matches link previews and works well for announcements and quotes. The 1080×1080 square takes more room in the mobile feed and is easy to reuse on Instagram. The 1080×1920 vertical canvas is for stories, which fill the whole phone screen.

Keep the text short — one headline and maybe a line of detail — since most people scroll past in seconds. In stories, leave the top and bottom of the canvas free of text, because the profile name, progress bar and reply field are drawn over them.

Pick one of eight designs, type a headline, subtitle and a short line, then choose a font, colors or a gradient and add your own photo, which you can drag and zoom right on the preview. Safe-zone guides show what gets cropped or covered, and they are never exported. Download a PNG or JPG at the exact pixel size, or press Open in editor to keep working on layers in the photo editor.
