Instagram Downloader Guide
Step-by-step ways to save your own Instagram photos in original quality — no third-party downloader needed.
Instagram does not offer a download button for other people's posts, and third-party "downloader" sites break constantly, show aggressive ads and may collect your login. Here are the reliable, legitimate ways to keep the photos you need.
Save your own photos
- Open your profile → ☰ → Your activity → Download your information. Instagram prepares an archive with all your photos, videos and stories in original quality and emails you a link.
- Turn on Settings → Archiving and downloading → Save original photos, so everything you post with the Instagram camera is also stored in your phone gallery.
- For a single post, open it, tap ⋯ and choose Save or Download (available for your own posts and Reels in most regions).
Keep someone else's post
- Tap the bookmark icon under the post to save it to a private collection in Instagram — it stays available as long as the author keeps it online.
- Ask the author for the original file. Most photographers are happy to share it if you credit them.
- For personal reference only, take a screenshot and crop away the interface with our crop tool.
Respect copyright
- Photos on Instagram belong to their authors. Re-posting them without permission can get your account blocked.
- Use the Share button to send a post to a friend or add it to your story with automatic credit.
PhotoRetrica never asks for your Instagram password and does not copy content from Instagram servers.
Why this page is a guide
This page does not download anything from Instagram and never asks for your login. Most third-party Instagram downloader sites break whenever Instagram changes its code, are full of aggressive ads and may ask for your password, which puts your account at risk. The features built into Instagram are more reliable.
To get all your own photos, videos and stories in original quality, request your data archive in the Your activity section of your profile; Instagram emails a download link when it is ready. You can also turn on saving original photos in the archiving settings, or save a single post of your own from its menu.
Other people's photos belong to their authors. Save them to a private collection with the bookmark icon, share them with the Share button or ask the author for the original file. For personal reference, a screenshot cropped with the PhotoRetrica crop tool is enough.
Everything runs locally in your browser — your images are never uploaded to a server.
