How to use: Instagram Templates

  1. 1

Pick a post or story size

Square and portrait posts for the feed, 1080 × 1920 for Stories and Reels covers.

  2. 2

    Stay inside the safe zones

In Stories the top and bottom bars cover part of the image, and the profile grid crops posts to 3:4. The text avoids these areas.

  3. 3

    Download and post

Save a JPG or PNG to your phone or computer and share it from Instagram.

Instagram sizes and tips

Instagram posts are 1080 pixels wide. The 1080×1080 square is the classic format, while the 1080×1350 portrait, with a 4:5 ratio, takes up more of the screen in the feed and draws more attention. Stories and Reels use the full-screen 1080×1920 vertical format.

The profile grid shows posts as cropped previews, so keep the main subject and any text in the center of the canvas. In stories and Reel covers, leave space at the top and bottom, where the username, buttons and captions appear. Use one or two fonts and a fixed color palette across posts for a consistent feed.

Pick one of eight designs, type a headline, subtitle and a short line or your @handle, then choose a font, colors or a gradient and add your own photo, which you can drag and zoom right on the preview. Safe-zone guides show what gets cropped or covered, and they are never exported. Download a PNG or JPG at the exact pixel size, or press Open in editor to keep working on layers in the photo editor.
