Designing for Snapchat
Snapchat is built around full-screen vertical content, so both stories and geofilters use a 1080×1920 canvas with a 9:16 ratio. A story image fills the whole phone screen, while a geofilter is a transparent overlay placed on top of someone's photo or video.
For a geofilter, choose the transparent background and download a PNG to keep the transparency. Keep the artwork in a band along the top or bottom so it does not cover faces in the middle of the picture, and leave the very edges clear, since they may be hidden behind the app interface on some phones.
For story images, use large text in the central area and strong contrast; the guides mark the top and bottom bars of the app. Pick one of eight designs, type a headline, subtitle and a short line, then choose a font, colors or a gradient and add your own photo, which you can drag and zoom right on the preview. Safe-zone guides show what gets cropped or covered, and they are never exported. Download a PNG or JPG at the exact pixel size, or press Open in editor to keep working on layers in the photo editor. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
