Designing for Snapchat
Snapchat is built around full-screen vertical content, so both stories and geofilters use a 1080×1920 canvas with a 9:16 ratio. A story image fills the whole phone screen, while a geofilter is a transparent overlay placed on top of someone's photo or video.
For a geofilter, choose the transparent background before creating the canvas, and keep the artwork in a band along the top or bottom so it does not cover faces in the middle of the picture. Leave the very edges clear, since they may be hidden behind the app interface on some phones. Export geofilters as PNG to keep the transparency.
For story images, use large text in the central area and strong contrast. The canvas opens in the built-in photo editor with layers, text, shapes and effects, and your files are never uploaded.
Everything runs locally in your browser — your images are never uploaded to a server.
