What a modern favicon set contains

A favicon is the small icon in browser tabs, bookmarks and Google search results, and on phones it becomes the home-screen icon of your site. Every platform asks for its own files, so a modern favicon is a small set of images plus a web app manifest, not a single picture.

Upload a PNG, JPG, WebP or SVG logo and crop it to a square, or make an icon from a letter or emoji. Then tune each platform separately: a background and corners for desktop browsers and Google, a solid background and margin for the iPhone home screen, and a maskable icon for Android that keeps your logo inside the safe zone. Live previews show browser tabs in light and dark mode, the bookmarks bar, a Google result and iOS and Android home screens with circle, squircle and rounded masks.

The ZIP follows current best practice: favicon.ico with 16, 32 and 48 px, favicon.svg when your source is an SVG (optionally adapting to dark mode), favicon-96x96.png, a 180×180 apple-touch-icon.png, 192 and 512 px manifest icons and site.webmanifest. Copy the HTML code or follow the steps for Next.js, React/Vite or WordPress, then test the result with our favicon checker. Everything is generated in your browser.

Everything runs locally in your browser — your images are never uploaded to a server.
