Matching a web color to RAL
A common situation: a company's logo or website uses a HEX color, and now the same color is needed on a facade sign, a powder-coated fence, office furniture or a vehicle. Paint suppliers and coaters work with RAL numbers rather than HEX codes, so the screen color has to be translated into the nearest RAL Classic shade.
Paste the HEX code, for example #CC0605, and the tool lists the six closest of the 213 RAL Classic colors with their number, name and ΔE value, calculated with the CIEDE2000 formula. A value under 2 means the colors are very close, while a result above 5 means no RAL color is really similar and a custom mix may be needed. Pick any match to see it next to your color with its HEX and RGB values.
Screens and paint never match perfectly, and gloss and texture change how a coating looks, so confirm the choice with a physical RAL sample.
