From Pantone to RAL

Pantone and RAL are both color standards, but for different materials. Pantone is used mainly for printing inks on paper and packaging, while RAL Classic, with its 213 colors, is the standard for paints, powder coatings and industrial products. When a brand color defined in Pantone has to appear on a storefront, a metal sign or company vehicles, you need the nearest RAL.

There is no official conversion table between the two systems, so the tool matches colors perceptually: it takes the screen value of the Pantone color, compares it with every RAL Classic color using CIEDE2000 and lists the six closest with their ΔE. Only some Pantone colors have a really close RAL partner, because RAL offers far fewer shades; a ΔE above 5 means the difference will be visible. Click a match to compare it side by side, then confirm with physical RAL and Pantone samples before painting.
